Compiling slang on Mac OS X:

To install slang and slrn on Mac OS X a few source-code changes have to be done. I suggest you to have a look at the fink-project ( http://fink.sourceforge.net) witch try the create an environment for an easy installation of Unix-programs on Mac OS X. For a proper working slrn you need at least slang-1.4.4-5.

If you don't have slang-1.4.4-5, (maybe because it's in the unstable and you're working with stable) you have to replace the file "/sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo/libs/slang-1.4.4-4.patch" or "/sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/finkinfo/libs/slang-1.4.4-4.patch" (if you use the unstable dist) with this file. Then reinstall slang and slrn and I hope you are happy.

If you want to compile slang and slrn without the help from the fink-project, you're on your own. I can't help you, because I have no Mac (The debugging was done over ssh). What I have changed is this (Note: you have to define "MACOSX" somewhere). Maybe you have a look in the CVS of the fink-project to see what they have changed.
